Saturday, September 8...I just had to take some time and visit my dear friend Bev Tutas.  Bev has had so many health issues over the last few years & now she is in a rehab center since her last surgery about a month ago.  She is weak and lonely and really needs something to look forward to.  So, if any of you who may be reading this have a moment, please drop her a card or if you are anywhere near Port Washington, stop at Heritage Nursing Home & Rehab Center, right on Hwy 32 about 6 blocks off Hwy 43 & see her.  Please keep her in your prayers for strength & healing.

When I finished my visit, I headed back to Milwaukee to participate in Sausage Fest.  Yes here is such a thing!!  Where else but here would you find a celebration of sausage?  Cafe Centraal has apparently hosted the event for the last 7 years.  Sausage Fest is basically a street fair, with sampling of all the sausage varieties, liquid refreshment and live music.

Proceeds from this years event will benefit the Wisconsin American Legion.  Many members of the Legion Family  were on hand to help cook a wide variety of tasty sausages,  and help with serving, ticket sales and even clean-up.

Commander Wayne and I we asked to be judges for the sausage tasting.  This was interesting since neither of us knew we would be tasting 14 different sausages.  There were several varieties of brats, Italians & Polish sausages.  There was also a category called "exotics", which had such interesting offerings as a red wine brat, a Reuben brat, and one called TNT.  All were offered by local shops.  After sampling all the varieties, the 4 judges, which included 2 "food bloggers", unanimously decided  the TNT sausage was the most unusually and the "Best of the Fest".

It was a really fun day.  There are pics of the Commander & I turning sausages on a smoky grill that I bet will surface somewhere in the near future!
